The Cornerhouse

This pub has had more names in the last few years than we can keep up with!
I well remember the Valiant Soldier, then there was the Furlong and Firkin. Now the Cornerhouse.

The Cornerhouse has changed remarkably. Instead of standing room only, banging music and teenagers there are now thirty somethings lounging on sofas with coffee.
Can a name change really make this much difference ? Obviously !
Overall, we’d have to say the Cornerhouse is still rated as one of our five favourite Beverley pubs.

I use to live in the Valiant Soldier way back in the early 1980s. My parents welcomed the soldiers, as they didn’t cause any trouble for them. I’m looking forward to visiting the Corner House in September 2009.

Used to drink the odd pint there in the late sixties when Jack Symons ran it, what a good pint he produced and no argy bargy or you were out and banned.
