Housed in an historic building opposite the Minster, this is the place to go for the determined beer-lover, or for anyone wanting excellent food.
Inside, you will find a very atmospheric pub with much of the original building on display. There’s a wide range of beers on offer and a range of interesting corners in which to drink them - including a non-smoking room.
Dating back to 1530, this is believed to be the oldest pub in Beverley. It is certainly one of the most attractive.

My favourite pub in Beverley, without a doubt. Stayed true to it’s traditional roots unlike many of the pubs in Beverley and makes a refreshing change from some of the pubs in the town centre. Although it has gone through a lot of management changes in recent years, the new folk there are really friendly and pour their blood, sweat and tears into the place everyday and seem like they are doing everything they can to make it work. Love going in there for a pint of Hobgoblin or Old Speckled Hen!

we took over the pub in april 2007, me and my sister Lisa and our two husbands. It was closed but we have brought it back to life with live music tuesday evenings, friday nights, saturday afternoons, saturday nights and sunday afternoons. Quiz on thursdays with supper. Food Mon -Thurs and Sat and Sunday Lunch. Great view of the Minster from the beer garden. Its going great all the customers love it and tell us so!! Its a lovely pub with great customers so thanks to all who drink in here.
